The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has announced that "with the endorsement of the CSD, the Government and the Ministry of Health have given the green light for the Professional Football League to be held again from the week of 8 June "after the pandemic of coronavirus .
Predictably that week "if all goes well, phase phase 3 will begin in much of Spain, the resumption of major professional sports competitions will be authorized and, in particular, the Professional Soccer League ", Sánchez assured.
The president wanted to emphasize the protection measures in the return of the domestic championship: "Of course, the ball will roll again in conditions that guarantee maximum health safety for all participants in the competition" .
"Spanish football, we all know, has a massive following within and outside our borders, but will not be the only recreational activity that we will be recovering in the coming weeks ", Sánchez warned, within the De-escalation plan .
The president of the League, Javier Tebas, has welcomed the "return of the League", has recognized that "it is the result of the great work of clubs, players and CSD" and that they will work to give a specific date. The President had previously stated that he "would like to start on June 12" but did not know "the exact date" . Everything indicates that on that Friday the 12th the game that would open on day 28 and the rest between Saturday 13 and Sunday June 14 would take place.
The competition will return behind closed doors, at least until there is a health guarantee that cancels the risk that it entails for the public, as reported the protocol of four phases of the CSD for the return of sport professional.
In fact, President Sánchez added to a journalist's question that "both the health authority and the Professional League are in that dialogue to approve a security protocol for men and women players ".
Of the matches of day 28 that will be played that week, a priori, the Seville and Valencia derbies and Atlético's visit to San Mamés stand out. They will be: (in the order that they were going to play in March) Real Madrid – Eibar Real Sociedad – Osasuna, Sevilla – Betis, Valencia – Levante, Mallorca – Barcelona Leganés – Valladolid, Celta – Villarreal, Athletic – Atlético de Madrid Espanyol – Alavés and Granada – Getafe.
