River contains a much broader concept than that of a football club. The club's commitment to society is a fundamental pillar, and during the month of May it was once again demonstrated. In the midst of the pandemic that threatens the world due to the coronavirus, the River Foundation did not sit idly by and made a series of donations to the population of deprived places in all parts of the country.
More than 3,300 people residing in Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Tucumán, Córdoba, Corrientes, Misiones, Chaco, San Juan and La Rioja received bags of food and hygiene products. The bags were adapted to the number of members of each family, and contained non-perishable food, vegetables, fruits and cleaning products to stock up for a month.
In addition, more than 1,500 kilos of food and 614 items from the bazaar were donated to six River Foundation allied organizations. What were they? The San José Parish (La Matanza), the Didascalio Santa Teresa del Niño Jesús School (Lomas de Zamora), the Villa Itatí Cartoneros Work Cooperative, the Manos Abiertas Foundation (Villa de Mayo), the Comedor San Vicente in Santiago del Estero and the Yasí Porá and Tupá Mbae communities in Iguazú, Misiones.
