The kings support the athletes in their return to training at the CAR in Madrid

The kings of Spain, don Felipe and doña Letizia visited this Monday the High Performance Center of Madrid (CAR) coinciding with the return to activity of the athletes , once Madrid has entered phase 2 of the de-escalation .

On this visit their majesties have been interested in knowing how the return to training of the elite athletes of our country is being, while they have praised the values ​​of sport as tools that will allow to "overcome this crisis" of the coronavirus .

"We need to overcome this crisis by relying on those values ​​that define you athletes. That is the spirit that we need to strengthen and that will allow us to overcome this situation and put Spain back on top," said Felipe VI in his speech to athletes.

" That is our challenge, the challenge of an entire country . A challenge in which, looking at you, we are going to win," he added.

Accompanied by the Minister of Culture and Sports, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribe, and the president of the Superior Council of Sports, Irene Lozano, the kings have been walking and watching the training sessions, as well as chatting with the different athletes of the Joaquín Blume .

Don Felipe has insisted that the 47 million Spaniards form "a great team" and that "they all contribute their individual condition to make a better, powerful, winning, strong, resistant team, proud of their achievements and working to improve permanently ".

In addition, the kings have chatted with some of the athletes they were coaching, including Olympic badminton champion Carolina Marín, gymnast Ray Zapata, world weightlifting champion Lydia Valentín, world karate champion Sandra Sánchez, and several paralympic athletes.
