The salary caps of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are reduced 273 and 173 million for this 2020-21 season, as announced by LaLiga in the presentation of the limits for this course in the two professional categories of Spanish football, which mark a total reduction of 646 million euros in LaLiga Santander and a slight rise of 9 million in LaLiga SmartBank.

The economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a considerable setback in Primera's salary cap, which is reduced from 2,979 to 2,333 million euros, while Espanyol's decline to Segunda explains it even grows into that category.

Analyzing the most powerful clubs, Real Madrid will be able to spend 468 million euros, 173 million less than the previous season; Barcelona 382 million, 273 million less than the previous year; and Atlético de Madrid 252 million, 95 million less than last year.

This limit also includes spending on subsidiaries, quarry and other sections (non-registrable staff, as defined in article 38 of the Budgeting Regulations).
