Deschamps criticizes the return of football in Spain, Germany and England

The French coach, Didier Deschamps is very critical of the return of football competitions to countries such as Spain, Germany and England, which he sees as "inconsistent" and attributed solely to economic and non-sporting reasons.

In an interview with the newspaper 'Le Parisien' published this Wednesday, Deschamps says that the matches played so far in the German Bundesliga "resemble football" but that they leave images " inconsistent ».

«I see players playing a game with all the elements of soccer: contacts and disputes. And then we see alternates in the stands with masks two meters away from each other. I honestly do not understand (…) Does the risk increase in the stands? What an inconsistency! », he assures.

For the Basque-French coach, the return of the national leagues « evidently responds firstly to an economic problem ».

«Spain and England, two great soccer countries, are planning the resumption of the League and the Premier League, but have decided not to retake the women's championships, which generate a lot of income. That says it all! », he insists.

Therefore, Deschamps defends the decision of the Government of his country to have ended the season in France and especially praises the president of the Federation, Noël Le Graët, whom he considers "the only football personality above the fight" and who says that "he knows how to make good decisions at the right moment when the situation demands it."

The coach is also concerned about the consequences on the physical integrity of the players facing the end of next season, when the Eurocup should be played, since footballers in many championships « are to chain matches every three days in summer and the risk of injury is increased ».

«I already denounced overloaded calendars. This is not going to be fixed. Your organizations will have been in great demand at the time of tackling the 2021 Euro Cup ”, he points out.

And he praises his compatriot N'Golo Kanté who has refused to train with Chelsea, for considering his "exemplary" attitude.
