Germán Burgos did a great job as Diego Simeone's aide-de-camp in Atlético de Madrid, a team where Cholo is an idol and Mono earned the love and respect of the fans . After several years with the DT, the former River goalkeeper is ready to leave alone in the role of coach.

According to the information that is handled in different Spanish media, Burgos will end his stay at Aleti when the 2019/20 season ends . Another ex-River would replace him: Nelson Vivas, that defender of the Argentina National Team who had a negative experience in the Núñez institution.

Well considered in the consideration of Enzo Francescoli, River's manager, the Monkey is always a name that appears in the plans in the event of an eventual emergency . What kind of setback? An unexpected departure from Marcelo Gallardo whose contract with El Más Grande is valid until December 31, 2021.

Although the desire of the River leadership is for the Doll to continue for many more years -even with the following management-, Burgos is one of the names in case an unforeseen event arises. And, obviously, the owner of the goal in the Copa Libertadores in 1996 would like to be a DT, although without any hurry, much less as a result of a goodbye from Gallardo.

"I know that directing River is going to happen naturally. I am not going to force anything. And less with Marcelo, who is a great friend" said the Monkey, 51 years old. Far from feeling annoyed when asked, Gallardo said: "Hopefully one day River and Germán will agree because I appreciate him as a guy. And if he wants to be a coach, being the River manager will be fine."
